Vishay 成立于1962, 當時主要制造及銷售箔電阻, 而該箔電阻是由董事會執行主席及公司創始人 Felix Zandman博士發明的.公司開始以箔電阻及箔電阻應變計作為其最初產品系列開展經營. 1985, 從一家新成立的公司發展成為這些原產品的全球領先制造商,由此, Vishay 開始了一系列戰略收購以使自己成為可提供廣泛電子元件的制造商.
Vishay的收購包括一些頂級廠商,如Siliconix, Telefunken, Infineon的紅外元件業務, General Semiconductor, Dale, Draloric, Sprague, Vitramon, 及 BCcomponents (原先為Philips Electronics 與 Beyschlag的無源元件業務部門). 在2007年4月, Vishay 完成了對International Rectifier®的某些分立半導體與模塊產品線的收購.
